MS. REA: You brought the light back. Thank you. I am standing in for Susan Haberlandt, and I am on the committee. Susan could not get here because of the weather, so I'll call your attention to the list of nominees, which is on the back of your agenda. I won't ask anybody to stand in the dark.
The Council has asked that we nominate the following officers. This could be interesting. This could really be interesting. Let's see if it goes up and down, depending on whom we ask. The Council organizes the conference and makes sure that everything runs smoothly. We have no control over the lights, folks. None whatsoever.
Will the following officers, as long as we have light, please stand? Because we're placing your name in nomination. Lisa Darling as treasurer, from the United World College. Steve Nelson as vice president, of the Calhoun School in New York. Rita McBride, as vice president, from the Mayfield Senior School in Pasadena, California. Jeanne Whitman as vice president, from the Hockaday School in Dallas, Texas. Claire Sumerlus as member at large, from the Balmoral Hall School for Girls. Is she here? This is the first time we've had a Canadian officer. And Bill Clarkson, as member at large from the Westminster Schools in Georgia.
Do I hear a motion to accept these nominations? (Moved and seconded.) All in favor? Anyone opposed? (Motion carries.)
I will call your attention to the other Council members, the annual appointments, which are made by President Burch Ford. Bruce Galbraith, who organizes us all, our executive director. Steve Blanchard, membership chair, from whom you just heard. Shep Shanley, college liaison, also stuck in Chicago. And Blair Stambaugh, from whom you will hear later.
Continuing on the Council, Burch Ford will continue as president, Bo Lauder as secretary. I think he also got stuck. Mary Louise Leipheimer as past secretary, and Marlene David as past treasurer. I'm Charlotte Rea, from Region I. Brad Lyman, who also seems to be organizing us, from Region III. Jean Brune, as member at large, and Stephanie Hull as member at large.
Now, I'd like to thank the following people who are concluding their service. Bodie Brizendine has been our president. Ellen Stein, Bill Christ, Karan Merry, Susan Haberlandt, and Woody Price. So please join me in thanking all of them. Applause. Thank you very much. And the light continues.
