Nomination Report – Bodie Brizendine
MS. FORD: Now
Bodie Brizendine, who is the chairman of the nominating committee, will make
her report.
MS.
BRIZENDINE: Thanks, Burch. I'm pleased to present the nominating
slate. Ellen Stein, the Dalton
School, for president. Brad Lyman,
Kentucky Country Day School, for secretary. Dennis Bisgaard, Kingswood-Oxford
School, for Vice President, Region I.
And Doreen Kelly, Ravenscroft School, Vice President, Region III. Members at large, Bessie Speers from
Ethel Walker School, and Janet Durgin from Sonoma Academy.
MS.
FORD: Thank you, Bodie, and thank
you to the nominating committee for your hard work putting together that
wonderful slate of new members of the Council. And I would like to present this slate to you, the
membership, for your approval and would ask for a motion in support of that.
(Moved
and seconded.)
MS.
FORD: All those in favor? Opposed? Abstain? Thank you very much. This slate of officers and new members
at large is approved.
I
would like to tell you just a little bit more about the Council
composition. There are several
annual appointments that are made by the president of NAPSG as dictated by the
bylaws, and they are the executive director, which was enthusiastically
supported by the Council, certainly anyone who knows and has worked with Bruce
Galbraith.
Shep
Shanley has been the college liaison member of the Council for some time and he
will be continuing in that post.
Blair
Stambaugh, from whom you will hear shortly, will be continuing as the
resolutions chair.
Betsy
Griffin has joined the Council to complete the term of Claire Sumerlus, who was
not able to complete her term, and we're grateful to Betsy that she will be
continuing that term for Claire.
And
then Bill Clarkson, whom you have just heard from, as the membership committee,
is also by appointment of the president of NAPSG.
Continuing
on the Council are Lisa Darling as the treasurer, Steve Nelson as a regional
representative. Jeanne Whitman,
from whom you will hear in a little bit, is also a regional
representative. Rita McBride, also
a regional representative, and Bill Clarkson, a member at large.
Again,
by virtue of the bylaws, the past president, who will be me, I, after this
conference has concluded, will stay on for an additional year, as will Bo
Lauder, who will be finishing his term at the conclusion of this conference, as
well.
I'd
like to ask to stand four members of the Council who will be completing their
terms and will be stepping down as of the end of this conference. They are Charlotte Rea, Jean Waller
Brune, Stephanie Hull, and Claire Sumerlus. Claire is not with us, but we thank her in absentia.
Thank
you for your service.
